1. Smell
At present, most of the products on the market are based on vinyl acetate copolymer, or EVA for short, as the main material. The chemical structure of EVA itself causes it to have a strong odor of acetic acid and will volatilize permanently. Coupled with some additives used in chemical foaming, the taste is even more pungent and unpleasant. It will inevitably affect the living environment. Our company generally does not use this material as the silent pad part of the SPC floor.
As a SPC flooring manufacturer we use electronic cross-linked polyethylene foam material referred to as IXPE. IXPE itself is non-toxic and tasteless. It is produced by electronic cross-linking process and does not contain any toxic additives. The high temperature foaming agent (release nitrogen) is non-toxic and tasteless. The product does not contain any corrosive, toxic substances and does not have any odor. The SGS product test report shows that it conforms to international environmental protection standards. For the laying effect of the floor and the health of customers, our manufacture preferentially uses this IXPE material as the silent pad part of the SPC floor.
2. Appearance
The production process of EVA foam material is chemical foaming in a fixed mold cavity. The product is a thick plate. And thin products are completed by joining, slicing and other processes. The surface cell structure will be damaged, so the surface finish and flatness of the product are poor.IXPE product adopts continuous foaming process. The product is thin coil material with smooth skin and fine closed cell structure. The thickness of the product is more uniform, and the overall product is more beautiful than EVA material.
3. Thermal insulation and moisture-proof
Because the IXPE material has a closed-cell structure, there are countless independent bubbles inside the material. The thermal conductivity is very low and the thermal insulation performance is good. The surface is calendered for better thermal insulation and moisture resistance. Intuitively, when the IXPE material is taken out of the water, the water droplets can be seen rolling down. However, there is no wetting phenomenon on the surface of IXPE. Although the thermal insulation performance of EVA foam material is close to that of IXPE, the surface cells are damaged. The surface is wet when taken out of water, and its moisture-proof performance is poorer than that of IXPE.
In addition, IXPE has high mechanical strength. It has long-term aging resistance and stable chemical properties. As a floor mat, it has better elasticity and cushioning performance, is quieter, and feels more comfortable.
