The development history of China's glass fiber industry can be roughly divided into three stages of development:
▶The first phase: 1958-1988.
This period is the initial stage of the development of China's glass fiber industry.
In 1958, in order to meet the requirements of national defense science and industry, Shanghai Yaohua Glass Factory officially put into operation an alkali-free glass fiber workshop with an annual output of 500 tons, marking the beginning of the construction of China's glass fiber industry system.
In the next 30 years of development, China has successively established a complete glass fiber industrial system with large and medium-sized glass fiber enterprises such as Hangzhou Glass General Factory, Changzhou No. 253 Factory, and Shaanxi Fiberglass General Factory as the backbone.
During these 30 years, China's glass fiber technology is mainly based on ball crucible drawing.
▶The second stage: 1989-2008.
This period is a period of rapid development of China's glass fiber industry.
In 1989, Zhuhai Glass Fiber Factory first introduced a complete set of technology and equipment for an annual output of 4,000 tons of alkali-free glass fiber tank kiln drawing production line. This move started a new journey of China's tank kiln production of glass fiber.
In 1998, China's first 7,500-ton pool kiln production line with fully localized technology and equipment was completed and put into operation in the Xinxing Glass Fiber Factory of Hangzhou Glass Group Co., Ltd. A good foundation has been laid.
In 2004, China Jushi built the first 60,000-ton annual pool kiln wire drawing production line in China. The production line has significantly improved efficiency and significantly reduced energy consumption, marking the beginning of rapid expansion and large-scale production of large-scale glass fiber enterprises in China.
In 2007, China's glass fiber production reached 1.6 million tons, ranking first in the world.
In 2008, the consumption and export volume of glass fiber in China ranked first in the world.
▶The third stage: 2009 to present.
This period is the mature development period of China's glass fiber industry.
Through nearly 10 years of improvement and innovation, China has established a complete supporting system for glass fiber raw materials, manufacturing, and equipment, forming a glass fiber production method with Chinese characteristics.
China's glass fiber industry has become the leader and engine of the world's glass fiber manufacturing industry. It has reached the international leading level in tank kiln technology, glass formula and surface treatment technology, automation and intelligent equipment application, and energy saving technology.
In 2019, China's Glass fiber production has accounted for 65.88% of the world's glass fiber production.
